Meeting of the President of Serbia with the State Counselor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China

The President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, met with the State Counselor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, Wang Yi, with whom he discussed friendly and economic relations between the two countries, but also joint projects implemented by the Republic of Serbia and the People's Republic of China, which are worth almost eight billion euros.

President Vučić expressed satisfaction with the visit of, as he said, a great friend, adding that they had discussed all topics of mutual interest for a long time. He pointed out that Serbia and China support each other in international institutions and organizations, as well as that trade has tripled in the last five years.

"We have an extraordinary relationship that is adorned with a steel friendship. For us, your visit is a great honor and I want to thank you for your decision to visit Serbia and to ask you to convey my most sincere greetings to the President of the People's Republic of China and a great friend of the Republic of Serbia, Xi Jinping", said President Vučić and stated that he was especially surprised and pleased that the Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized the need for cooperation in innovative, modern technologies – robotics and artificial intelligence.

"In that way, with the support of China, Serbia can keep pace with the most developed countries in the world", President Vučić pointed out. At the meeting of delegations, he said that Serbia and China have no open issues in the political sphere, and that they cooperate well in all international institutions and organizations, multilateral forums, as well as in bilateral relations.

"I believe that we can, if it is possible at all, raise our cooperation to an even higher level", said President Vučić and thanked for the support for the territorial integrity of Serbia, in the way that Serbia has always supported the policy of China.

"Thank you for the huge investments in Serbia. Thank you for the opportunity to participate in the "Belt and Road" initiative. We support the wise words of President Xi at the United Nations General Assembly and his initiative for global development", President Vučić emphasized.

State Counselor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, Wang Yi, conveyed the cordial greetings of Chinese President Xi Jinping to President Vučić and said that the Chinese President highly appreciates the great friendship with him.

"President Xi values the deep friendship and strong mutual trust he has established with you personally. The development of our relations is based on equality and mutual respect and common interests", said Minister Yi, adding that this is a great driving force in the relations between Serbia and China, which have a bright future. He pointed out that the two countries preserve equality in solidarity and stand for justice on the international scene, as well as respect for principles in international relations.

"Together we bear the responsibility for peace and stability, both in the region and in the world. We are proud of the development of our relations", Chinese Minister Wang Yi emphasized.
